Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need our passports?
Yes! With plenty of notice, you should be able to use the cheapest option to get your new passport issued. If you have a passport already, kindly check the expiration date to make sure it does not expire on or before September 31, 2026. Your passport will need at least 6 months of validity.
Should we bring gifts?
No! If you feel so inclined, you may ship something to our new home, but we do not expect gifts of any kind. Our address is available upon request.
What are we expected to cover?
Because destination weddings can be expensive to attend, we are happy to offer rooms for our guests without cost. Food and drinks will also be covered for the reception and following dinner. We would like to ask that you book your own flights and bring money for taxis, food and shopping. Things are pretty cheap in Mexico, so expect to spend about half of what you would on the equivalent dinner/item in the U.S.
Do you have any advice for booking flights?
We recommend booking early, and setting up alerts for the dates and flights you want. Prices change over time, so it can be good to monitor them for a month or so before purchasing tickets. You will only need a few days worth of clothes, and this trip can easily be done with carry-on luggage instead of checked bags. Book a flight from your nearest major airport, and remember to look at other methods such as train or subway to get there!
What is the dress code for the weekend?
Wear anything you’d wear around polite company for the off-hours. Bring swimming gear, as we will be snorkeling on the yacht, and the resort is on the beach. For the ceremony, we ask you wear polite, causal clothes.
Can we carpool to and from the airport?
Anything to save the whales, man! As the date gets closer we’ll see who’s flights are landing when, and we’ll be able to better co-ordinate carpooling. Bear in mind that most taxis in Mexico are 4 seat cars, and it will be more difficult to find transportation for larger groups.
